Contributor Post: Lipstick Trends

Happy Thursday everyone! The weekend is almost here and I have my final guest post for you this week. My Beauty/Fashion contributor Whitney Fredette is back. Which is exciting for all of us, I love her tips and you guys seem to reallllly enjoy them as well. Today she is sharing her favorite lipstick hues!

I love the summer time because I think it is the best time to experiment with some bright lip colors.  As I said in my last post, I recently just got really into wearing lipstick.  I was always really uncomfortable wearing any color other than nude, or just my natural lip color with some Aquaphor. (If you don’t know what Aquaphor is, you must go to the store now and buy some- it is the greatest thing around!)

I really loved lipstick on other people so I started trying new colors for myself, but colors that weren’t too extreme, or too outside of my comfort zone.  Now, I am all about bright orange, and hot pink, and in the fall I LOVE a really dark lip.  It is always a little shocking to see it on yourself for the first time, but you get used to it and then it gets easier and easier to wear.

I have a few favorite colors this summer, some that I’ve had for a while and others I just discovered!  I tend to buy MAC lipstick, even though I know there are a lot of really great brands besides MAC, for some reason I am always just drawn to their colors.

Here are my 3 favorites this summer:

MAC “Morange”
This color is seriously BRIGHT.  I usually wear it when I don’t have heavy eye makeup on- like some cateye liner and mascara would probably be it.  I usually pair it with some neutral clothing, so it really stands out.  WARNING: don’t give anyone in a white shirt a hug… you will definitely smudge them!

MAC “Bombshell”
This color is the BOMB. Pun intended.  Seriously go buy it now.  I just got this color and it’s the best.  Talk about a perfect everyday color.  It has just a slight shimmer in it that is gorgeous.  I had this on the other day and had about 6 different people compliment it.  Including my husband – and he never notices anything haha!

BITE cosmetics in “Quince”
This one is another bright one.  I love this color and brand because it is a lip pencil, not a stick.  It goes on like butter.  So smooth and it feels sooo good.  It lasts a super long time and it is really a gorgeous color for anyone.

Here is what they look like on my arm.  Keep in mind; I’m very much on the fair side of the skin scale, so depending on your pigment these colors will look different.  These are just some of my favorites, I hope you can try them and I hope you like them as much as me!
