Trend Sighting: Delicate Jewlery

Necklace: H&M. Rings: Nordstrom, Old Navy, Michael Kors Bracelets: H&M
Pictures By: Bailey Winters

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I spent mine hanging out with family and eating at yummy restaurants. Good food and people I love make for a pretty good weekend! And I spent most of my Sunday playing with Batman action figures and watching Super Hero cartoons with my cousins kids. The sad is, I think I enjoyed it as much as they did. Nerd alert!

Moving on! This week is all about Super Bowl fun! There will be a Super Bowl themed workout, party tips, a recipe and tons of nerdy football pictures of me. BUUUUT before we go deep into my Super Bowl themed week I decided to start the week of with a girly post. A post all about a new trend that I am looooooving, the dainty jewelry trend!

For awhile there it was all about huge statement pieces. HUGE necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings what have you. You would wear one piece and you were set. Now the jewelry trend has moved on to more simple, dainty pieces that are easily layered. There are few reasons I love this trend. One, I love the look of simple layered pieces. I find it elegant and classic. Two, I have a sentimental heart and I love the idea of being able to layer a lot of jewelry pieces that mean something to you.

ANYWAY, if you wanna jump on the dainty jewelry bandwagon there are a couple places you can start your collection without breaking the bank. The first place is H&M. I am dead serious. The necklace I am wearing in this pic is from there, so are my bracelets. Go check them out! (The stores have more options than their website.)

I got my rings from Nordstrom (under $50), Old Navy, and Michael Kors (From my momma for my birthday). Nordstrom has sooo many options and the prices for most of their pieces are totally reasonable! So, how do you feel about the new trends? Do you miss the statement pieces? I'd love to hear!

P.S. Can we talk about my fav looks of the Red Carpet over the weekend? Miss. Jennifer Lawrence and the dashing Eddie Redmayne! Her dress she wore this weekend on the Red Carpe was beyond stunning and Eddie in his suit? Wow. It's  how I picture every Englishman looks. Haha. Who were your favorites?

Golden Globes 2015: Best and Worst Dressed

I adore award season. Not for the movies (I seem to love what critics hate and hate what they love!) but for the clothes. I'm in awe of the fashion! The glamor reminds me of  Old Hollywood days (but to be honest I wish those modest silhouette appeared a little more but that is just me.) and I just adore watching what all of today's designers put forth. I just love it!

When I first got into journalism I wanted to BE on the red carpet and ask everyone "Hey, what are you wearing?" But I decided lifestyle was more my thing... Ok I'm babbling let's move on. I have decided to do a little blog post on the best and worst dressed of the 2015 Golden Globes. I am going to focus mostly on the best dressed because that's nicer right? Anyway, here are my pics! AND I'd love to hear your votes for best and worst dressed!

PS All pics are from E! Online

2015 Golden Globes Best Dressed

Greer Grammer: I love a good blush gown and this one by Lorena Sarbu is stunning! The appliques are perfect. Now, this type of dress is very popular on the red carpet but I find that this one isn't over kill with the glitz and the tulle is just the right amount of poof. Well done in my opinion.

Julia Goldani Telles: I chose her as one of my best dressed because of the hue of the dress. I mean seriously! Is that blue not stunning?! The hue in addition to the cut of her dress made her stand out to me. I am huge fan of ball gowns and this one was an A+ in my book.

Emily Blunt: I adore her, I don't know her personally (obviously) but she seems sweet and I think her and her hubby are the cutest. Anyway, I LOVED her Michael Kors dress. To me, it was a modern take on Miss. Monroe's famous white gown. I also loved how she added a bit of color with her fabulous turquoise earrings.

The next selection of my best dressed is all about the blue hue! I adored this light blue/grayish tone, it's stunning no? Let's talk about the ladies individually.

Julianne Moore: Givenchy Couture. Repeat, Givenchy Couture. STUNNING. This was one of my favorite looks of the night. I know some might think that the sparkle and the feathers were a bit over kill but I disagree! The hue of the dress makes it OK (if it were hot pink that would be a different story). The ombre effect of the feathers is stunning and it just says "Red Carpet" to me.

Diane Kruger: The train on this dress wins my heart. I love a good stiff train! Also the high neck and the thick sleeves is not a usually look you see on the Red Carpet. THEN the fabric has a slight sparkle to it, yup, I loved it.

Amy Adams: I am a huge fan. I watched her interview on the red carpet with Ryan Seacrest and I was very impressed with her. She seemed humble and gracious and I thought it was refreshing. BUT on to her dress. To be honest, Amy Adams is always on my list of Best Dressed because she is always classic. I know fashion is about taking risks but I applaud her for being brave to stay classic. This Versace dress is fabulously Old Hollywood and I would borrow it from her if I could.

Allison Williams: I watched her interview on E! and when they asked about her dress she informed them that after playing Peter in Peter Pan she wanted something super girly. She nailed it! The bright color of the dress and all the detailing is super fun and glamorous.

Anna Kendrick: I wish Anna and I were friends, I think we would get along. Anyways, her burgundy and nude dress had me green with envy. I want to wear it! The dainty belt and ball gown shape are so lovely. Plus, I am a huge fan of most everything Monique Lhuillier creates.

And honorable mentions to Emma Stone and Felicity Jones! (The detail buttons on the back of Jones' dress were stunning!!!!)

2015 Golden Globes Worst Dressed
Now before I go on I don't want any of you to think I hate prints. I LOVE them, it's just my two least favorite dresses just happen to have prints on them.

Claire Danes: I feel like this dress would have been better if the top had been fixed. I mean, I am not a top fashion designer but the top was so loose that when she posed for pictures, to me,  it didn't photograph well.

Keira Knightley: The problem with this dress is the proportions. The bib part of the dress cuts so low and the frills on the bottom of the dress start so high it makes her look short. I also think the dress makes her look slightly juvenile. And I feel so bad saying that because, apparently, it took- like- 30 people to make the dress.

What are your thoughts?!

Guest Post: Dissecting Stars Style- Elle Fanning

Hello there! I am SUPER exciting about this post today. I did a "Dissecting Stars Style" a little bit ago with Taylor Swift and you guys really took a liking to it; and I am SO glad, it was one of my favorite posts I have done. ANYWAYS, today is another "Dissecting Stars Style" but I'm not doing it. My friend Andy, who I have known since High School, has written this lovely post. His taste in fashion is impeccable, I mean for real, and he is always on top of who is best dressed in Hollywood. He is an incredibly talented guy and has an awesome tumblr! I hope you all enjoy what he has to say about the fabulous Elle Fanning.

Meet Elle Fanning. She's not just "Aurora" from Maleficent. She's not just the younger sister of Dakota Fanning. She's ELLE FANNING. This 16-year-old Southern belle from Georgia has been in the acting business since 2001. Young as she is, Elle is, without question, a force to be reckoned with - in acting, yes, but especially for her impeccable taste in fashion.

I've been watching Elle since she played Alice in Super 8, and this girl knows how to dress. Style blogs of all kinds are well-aware, and you should be, too. One look at her red carpet looks is enough to cement her as a fashion icon, even this early on. For goodness' sake, she's wearing Rodarte! What teenager has the sense to wear and pull off Rodarte?

Even in a simple red Marc by Marc Jacobs ensemble, she's breathtaking.

And my favorite.... This white Louis Vuitton dress. Bliss. Pure bliss.

It's not just the red carpet! On the streets, she's serving flawless-taste realness.

At this point, I can sense you're already off to google "Elle Fanning Fashion Goddess", so I won't keep you much longer. Go in confidence, and prepare for a tidal wave of style inspiration! Elle is on the scene. She is slaying and she is staying.

Dissecting Stars Style: Taylor Swift

Here's the thing, I love looking at Star's style- their street style more than anything. But sometimes I try to get their EXACT look. AND, I think people can get in a funk when they do that. Because, lets be honest, most of us can't afford that EXACT look... plus you loose your style when you try to be identical to someone else. So I decided to do this new thing called "Dissecting Stars Style" it will help you get the look they have but not IDENTICAL to them. Our first star is Miss. T-Swift.

I love Taylor's style. It's old-school and feminine. Some how she even manages to make her"tomboy looks" girly. Here are some of typical Taylor looks I found and I am going to dissect them for ya!
I feel like Taylor often does black on black. Which is super easy to make your own, plus it foes back to Audrey's look in Funny Face. BUT be careful with this look, make sure you keep it elegant and feminine enough that it doesn't end up looking Gothic. A way to avoid this is go for a cropped paint or a capri... these are super easy to find and are always in. Showing a little bit of ankle gives the look a more feminine appeal. Also, make sure the top is tight and not super loose. Go for a shirt with sleeves. A tank top will make you look like you stepped out of yoga class. As far as the shoes go try a pointed toe shoe... it will make you look longer and add more glamor. AND a bold red lip didn't hurt anyone.

I have noticed that Taylor doesn't over accessorize. Which I LOVE.  I like my looks to look clean and crisp and if you add a gazillion bracelets and a necklace AND earrings AND a scarf it starts to be too much. Sooooo to accessorize like Taylor you need a few things: Rayban shaped sunnies, a headband and a great bag.

You don't need to get Rayban's but just a similar shape. They are flattering for most people AND can find them at Target for cheeeeeap. But if that shape isn't your thing... just go for black. You can never go wrong for black sunnies... and black sunnies are very Taylor like.

Her headbands usually have a knotted detail to them. You can find some here and here. Or can use a scarf and tie it around your head. Easy.

As far as bags go... Taylor usually doesn't have huge extravagant bags. At least- there aren't huge bows, or studs, or anything of that kind. Try to find a a structured bag in a solid color. It will go with more and get that Taylor look.

My favorite part of Taylor's style is her dresses. I ADORE dresses, slip one on and you are basically good to go. Taylor usually goes for flowy dresses with a fit and flare shape (In at the waist and then flares out).  Often times she pairs a long cardigan with her dresses. Which is such an easy style to follow, and it is always cute and girly. If she is not wearing a cardigan it is usually because her dress has details on it that an added cardigan would over power.  What I mean is a bow at the neck, a collar, a bow around the waist etc. If a dress has these details I would avoid a cardi.

Taylor also wears a lot of d'orsay shoes, Keds (or converse) and oxfords. These three shoes are easy to find and you don't have to spend a fortune on them.

Well that's a wrap! If you need any more ideas on how to get the "Taylor" look you can write me an e-mail, I would be more than happy to help. Also, if there is another star's style you want "dissecting" let me know!!

The Met Gala 2014: Best and Worst Dressed

The Met Gala was last night and it is by far one of my FAVORITE red carpet times of the year. People stay glamorous but up their game a little. There are more couture outfits and, most of the time,  people try to push the envelop on fashion- sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

This year I noticed two huge trends- one was the crop top look. You won't see a lot of pictures below because I am kind of over it. I understand the fashion behind it, cover up everything but your stomach so you don't look riskay... but my fashion style is pretty old fashioned and feminine and I am just done with this trend. Plus to me it always looks the same. ANYWAY the next trend, which is pretty usual for the Met Gala, is black and white. It is a HUGE trend on the Red Carpet this year- and I kind of dig it. The soft white and harsh black always make for an appealing outfit. So those are the trends that I saw... now I am going to share with you who I think was the best and worst dressed. There were so many great, and urm not so great, looks so it was hard to pick just a few. I am sure I overlooked some... So if you have different opinions let me know! I would LOVE to hear them!

Met Gala 2014 Worst Dressed

Lets start with Maggie Gyllenhall. I realllly do not like the print on this dress. The color scheme is so dull on the red carpet. It doesn't stand out all and looks dreary. Also, the fabric around her elbows is wrinkled, which does not look great in pictures. Plus I think the neckline would look better without the collar.

Next is Lea Michele. The color of the dress is great, it's so elegant- very Old Hollywood. However, the middle of the dress is no good. You want to look your best on the red carpet, and for someone who looks as great as she does, why would you add all that bulge to your stomach? Not a huge fan.

Linda Evangelista is a model so she has probably worn everything under the sun, but this is probably one of the worst things she has worn. The length is really awkward, it kind of reminds me of a Pioneer dress. Plus I think the waist should have been more defined if you're going to have that much volume on the bottom. PLUS the pink AND the ruffles makes it very juvenile.

Kate Upton is stunning, I would trade her faces (and bodies) ANY day. However, I would not wear this dress.  The black horizontal lines going across her hips make her look wide- and we know she is anything but. Plus the top just looks a little sloppy to me.

Oh Miss. Zoe... she is always trying to push the limit. Remember her purple Oscar dress a few years ago? People were arguing about that all awards season. I have a feeling this one will get the same reaction. She is so skinny she can pretty much wear anything, but I hate the bottom of this dress so much. The poof kind of reminds of a jellyfish, it just looks awkward.

My pick for worst dressed is Sandra Lee. Holy smokes, I am all for wanting to look like Cinderella but this is just no good. I get it's the Met but this looks awwwwful. The peplum is what really throws me off... it is so HUGE. Plus the tulle, plus the poof, plus the gloves and the hair. Bless her sweet heart.

Met Gala 2014 Best Dressed

Before I talk about these lovely ladies I have to say that I am a HUGE fan of ballgowns, when they are done right. And these two ladies NAILED it in my opinion. The color of Arizona Muse's dress is stunning. Plus the bow adds something, but not too much. I adore it. Miss. Panetierre looks gorgeous in this pink/blue dress. First off, check out her smile, when stars are happy to be on the carpet I swear I like their outfits more. It so simply and so feminine, I adore it.

Let's hear it for the Old Hollywood ladies! This is my favorite look on the Red Carpet. My fashion muses are Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, so I always love when people play to that era. These two ladies are more Monroe than Hepburn but I still LOVE it. Miss. Witherspoon reminds me of when Miss. Monroe did Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend. The color of this dress is perfect for her, plus the shape is so simple, but the top design adds something exciting. Blake Lively was my favorite off the evening. She looked UBER glamorous and the back is to die for. She killed it.

I couldn't do a Met Gala post without talking about some of the more daring get ups. The two I liked the most were Miss. Wiig and the gorgeous Lupita Nyong'o. The shape of Wiig's dress is so fun, and the glitter on the inside of it adds to the plain black. I have to say that I am usually not a fan of pants on the Red Carpet but the ankle strap shoe and the glitter make the look feminine. It was a risk and I was a fan.

Oh Miss. Lupita, this dress is sweeeeet. It is super intense but I think she pulled it off. She looks like an African Princess and I love that she took the risk. The Met Gala is about having fun and taking risks and she did it in the right way.

Woooo! Done! Who were your favorites? And, maybe, not so favorites?
